The good thing about this neck is that has already been installed on two different bass guitars (mine and the jazz bass at Aluminati headquarters) so I can say with confidence it works great. It is ready to install. It sets up perfect with 45-105 stringsThis is the original Aluminati bass neck from their demonstration videos. I begged it off of them because I did not want to wait 120 days for them to make me one. I was bored working from home during the pandemic and fantasizing about my bass glory days.
I purchased this in December of 2020
It's an incredible Bass neck. It has jumbo stainless steel frets for easy playability, a carbon fiber fretboard that feels like ebony (in my opinion it is subjective but it is a fast feeling fretboard), a satin feeling finish neck because of the brushed aluminum liquid gold finish, and it sets up and plays perfectly with low action and just the right amount of relief (no idea how they do that. It has no truss rod)
The neck is not heavy it weighs under 3 pounds. With the gold finish it does not really stand out as an aluminum neck, but you get all the benefits of an aluminum neck as in tons of sustain, clarity, and no movement due to humidity etc. Because it is partially hollow when you tap on it it sounds sort of like well-cured wood. Not really "hollow" sounding but resonant. This neck is nothing like the Solid heavy old Travis Bean necks or Kramer (those are good to but different). This neck has more sustain and clarity. If you like Kramer, Steinberger, Travis Bean, Status bass, Modulus this design takes the best of all those designs and is worth trying. There is not much else like this on the market.
1.65" nut width
12" radius
jumbo stainless frets.
The neck profile stands out to me as one of the highlights of the instrument. It has generously rolled shoulders but thickens up as you reach the center of the profile. It is sort of a soft U profile.
I'm selling a lot of my gear due to some personal challenges with my hands/tendons. This is a great neck.
If you order this off the website it will take 120 days and cost 1400 bucks. They are also running low on the carbon graphite fretboards.
Because this is a prototype of sorts it does have a few very small cosmetic only imperfections but they are small and cosmetic only. There is a dime sized "haze" in the fretboard by the first fret/nut/E string. You cannot feel it and it is only visible at certain angles.
All mounting hardware is included. A 1/4" drill bit (came with the neck from Aluminati) is included to zap all four of your bass body of choice neck mounting holes. (it makes the holes the tiniest bit wider for easier installation and set up) I think you could get away without zapping it but you may need the extra room to properly align the neck on your bolt on body. The machine screws of course fit into a standard neck plate.
