This is a 2020 Epiphone Thunderbird '60s Bass,
that as I'm sure you know the Parent Company is Gibson.
This is the "Neck-Through" model made of Mahogany & Walnut with the original Tobacco-Sunburst f
inish.
It'
s been Relicd' or Aged to resemble a well played Vintage '60s Gibson Thunderbird Bass. Bass was in like new condition before relicd'.
It's
been distressed s
howing a dulled finish, finish-wear, dents, dings & chips to replicate age & play wear from many years of use. "ALL" Hardware has been aged down to
every
screw. These are cosmetic only modifications that doesn't affect playability.
Bass has the original passive
ProBucker 760 Bass Humbucker Pickups and a vintage-styled '60s Tune-o-matic Bridge & Claw tailpiece, separate Volume for each Pickup and a Master Tone. Pots are full size 500Ks.
Neck is 34" scale with a 20 fret Rosewood
Fr
etboard, 12" radius, 1.5" Nut width. T
he
Fretboard has been very lightly sanded, thoroughly hand buffed & conditioned with lemon oil to make it even smoother than it came from the factory and plays with ease!
Frets are perfect and have been polished so they're extra slick & bright.
*
NOTE that the Fretboard
was not
distressed for best playability. Ba
ck of the Neck has been carefully sanded, removing most of the finish to replicate years of play wear
, then meticulously hand buffed.
*NOTE that besides the finish wear, the
Back of the Neck
was not
distressed either, for great
playability. There aren't any dents or dings.
It's
ultra smooth, fast and plays incredible! Neck is slim and feels similar to a Fender Jazz Bass Neck. The finish wear better shows the construction of the lamination of Mahogany & Walnut that runs completely through the center of Body.
The Epiphone Logo was sanded off the Truss-Rod Cover and a durable Gold vinyl Gibson Headstock Logo applied. Has the o
riginal quality Wilkinson Nickel
Tuners that have also been aged.
Strings are original and like new. I don't know what brand Epiphone used
.
Bass is in
Excellent, Clean Condition! Plays fantastic and looks very similar to a high-end 1960's Vintage Gibson Thunderbird Bass, that if was real would cost thousands!
But note this
IS
an
Epiphone
. Although no one will know it's not a Gibson but you.
A new Gibson Thunderbird Bass is 00+.
I have hours & hours of time and detailed effort in creating this Relic T-Bird and feel it's pretty convincing. Probably the best Relic I've done to date. If Epiphone or Gibson offered a Relic, what would you have to pay for a Custom-Shop Relic model?
This is a great playing & sounding Bass and an affordable
alternative to a real Gibson
.
If you like the popular "Relic" look, you'll LOVE this Bass! Has a Vintage/Retro look, like it's been played & gigged for years and has a cool vibe! No Case.

*** I've worked on Guitars as a Hobby for over 30 years and p
layability of the Neck &
Set-Up of course are key. I'm not a

.
If you're looking for this type of Bass (although you won't find another just like this one), think about if other Sellers work on Guitars and know how to set them up. Is the Neck straight or will it need a Truss-Rod adjustment or an possibly an expensive repair? Is the Fretboard clean? Are the Frets oxidized and need cleaned & polished? Will the Strings be dead and need a new set?
Also, will the Seller's description be as thorough as mine, or like most likely just say..."Condition Is Used".
Plays & sounds as cool as it looks!
Remember...you get what you pay for!
This being said, I must also note:
The Neck is perfectly straight, set up with low action and plays great. But I must state that Guitars can experience slight changes in shipping, that may require minor adjustments. In addition, I can't predict how you like your Guitar set up. Be advised that minor adjustments or a set-up to your liking "may" be required and if you can't do it yourself, the costs associated with these adjustments should be expected.
